Langensendelbach elementary school sponsored run raises 2700 euros for the Hemalata children’s homes in South India / Chennai
The annual charity run of Langensendelbach Primary School took place again this year. In the run-up to the run, each child looked for sponsors in the family or at companies who would support their sporting performance. The children can then raise a certain amount of money for each lap of around 400 meters.
According to director Heike de Clerk, the children ran a total distance of 1,538 kilometers or 3,845 laps this year. That was an average of 20 laps per child. An amazing achievement!
At the end, the young endurance athletes, the principal, parents and sponsors were proud and appreciative of the total donation proceeds of 8,137 euros.
In addition to great projects from the region, our Hemalata children’s home project in South India received a donation of 2700 euros, as in previous years. For this we say a BIG THANK YOU.
From the proceeds of the charity run, around €600 will go to the home for 3 sponsored children as an annual contribution (the money from the sponsorships will benefit all children). We can make good use of a further 2100 euros for upcoming projects such as the start of the planned sewing workshop at the end of 2024 and the purchase and renewal of tools for our ZTI training workshops, where around 60 trainees will be working in the new 2024/2025 training year.
We have also just received information from India that, according to Indian school authorities, this year costs such as school uniforms, learning materials, books etc. will no longer be subsidized by the schools and the state as in the past, but will have to be borne directly by the children’s families. We are facing considerable additional expenditure here, which we also want to cover with the help of our sponsors. We will receive a detailed cost breakdown in the coming days.
We from the Förderkreis would like to thank all the children, parents, sponsors and also the Langensendelbach elementary school for this great campaign. A huge thank you also comes directly on behalf of all the children and carers as well as the management of the Hemalata children’s homes.
