Child Sponsorship

Child sponsorships are the “heart” of our project work.  Over the years, we have been able to increase the number of sponsorships from 20 (1994) to around 150 (2023).

In addition to individual sponsorships, school classes, kindergartens, senior citizens’ groups, women’s groups, children’s church services and even community medical practices have already taken on sponsorships of children.


By taking on a child sponsorship, you give your sponsored child the chance of a self-determined childhood and a better future. With no other form of donation can you experience so concretely how and where your help works. Because your help has a face.

How does a sponsorship work?

  • To become a sponsor, you pay €25 per month. You can transfer the amount monthly, quarterly or annually by standing order.
  • At the start of a sponsorship, the sponsor receives a “profile” with the child’s personal details, family details and a photo, which is renewed once a year. If you wish and if there are free sponsored children, you can also choose between sponsorship biographies and decide which child should receive the sponsorship.
  • The money is transferred to our orphanages every month together with other sponsorship funds to finance the maintenance, operating and education costs incurred there. By sponsoring a child, you not only support the child directly, but also help the whole family.

  • The members of our support association work exclusively on a voluntary basis, so that 100% of their money goes to the child.

  • Every year we visit the Hemalata children’s homes and get an idea of the situation on the ground. We also meet sponsored children and are able to gain a personal impression. This is also an opportunity to take photos with the children or to give them a small gift.
  • At the end of the year, you will receive a donation receipt for your annual tax return from our sponsorship association.
  • The sponsorship ends when the child finishes school or if the child leaves the Hemalata children’s homes for any reason. In this case we will inform you accordingly and offer a new sponsorship for a child on request.
  • Your sponsorship can be terminated at any time and without giving reasons.
